Some simple advice to our Chennai vehicle owners…
1. When you are about to turn or planning to turn or are turning at any signal or at any intersection or in the middle of the road/traffic, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TURN ON YOUR INDICATOR!!!
2. Remember that when you are driving at night and when the street lights are light, REMEMBER TO TURN DOWN THE HIGH-BEAM! ITS USED ONLY FOR ROADS WITH NO STREET LIGHTS!!!
3. Please DO NOT HORN when you are at signal and the signal is STILL BLOODY RED!!!
4. Decide on the GOD DAMN LANE you are going to drive and KEEP DRIVING in the same LANE! DO NOT WEAVE BETWEEN THE LANES!!!
5. @BIKERS: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT DRIVE AS IF YOU ARE RACING @#&#*@&## ….
6. @GIRLS: (ONLY TO THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE AND YET PRETEND TO DRIVE WELL): DO NOT DRIVE. KILLING INNOCENT LIVES IS NOT GOING TO GET YOU ANY CLOSER TO HEAVEN!
7. @TAXIS N AUTOS (TATA INDICAS AND MAURTI OMIN’S): %@*@#$#!!@@#$#!#$#$%#%#%**&#$$@%&&#!! PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE DRIVING IN THE ROAD.
8. @TRUCKS AND STATE OWNED VEHICLES: YOU ARE NOT THE KING OF THE ROAD!!! PLEASE RESPECT OTHER DRIVERS.
Now, I know that people who will this blog post would not even stop for one minute to think about their driving habits and do the same “their” thing when they take their vehicle out. I am writing this blog post purely out of frustration at our Chennai traffic conditions. Those who drive taxis, autos and Govt. drivers do not have proper education or taught how to drive in cities, (many do not even have permits!) so you can at least see where they are coming from and sympathize if you want. But what irks me the most is when I see so called “educated group” often ride their bikes and cars as if it is a racing event and they are the worst drivers. They have absolutely no manners while driving!
I know there are places worse than in Chennai. Remember, this is not a competition to be selected as the “worst-driving-place-on-Earth”.
Now, I know that I have also crossed certain limits because I was always “pushed” into doing it. Every time I take my car/bike out, I have always followed the rules. I have been honked at, shouted at and even I had an accident because I was following rules, (story for another day and time). I just don’t get it, people are always seem to be hurrying all the time. Whether its in the morning between 8-10am or in the afternoon between 11-3pm or during the evening between 4-8pm.
And after 9pm, don’t even bother looking at signals! just drive the freaking vehicle even if the road is clear or not!…
When will this situation change! or will it get worse? With the buying power of every household increasing combined with the introduction of Tata Nano next year, I have a strong feeling that this situation is only going to make things even worse.
