Well, I have never tried live blogging and I have seen so many events being covered by live blogging. So decided to try my hand at this. So here goes my attempt at live blogging.
I love F1 racing. I love the sound of the engines made by the cars, the adrenaline rush and the excitement. But unfortunately I just lost touch with the F1 racing for quite sometime and slowly getting back to it. I witnessed the crazy Belgium Grand Prix couple of weeks back and saw Hamilton won the race but was penalized 25 seconds for a foul he committed during the final lap in the race.
5.22pm
Now we will in few minutes (15 minutes precise) for the begining of the Gran Premio Santander D’Italia is about to begin. Star Sports are brining the live images from the match and still discussion is going on various topics such as the suprising finish of the qualifiying race held yesterday. Sebastian Vettel of Toro Rosso, who finished 1:37.555s is considered as the Youngest man to get the pole position in 21 years and 73 days according to F1.com. Second was Heikki Kovalainen from McLaren, with a time of 1:37.631s and the third is Mark Webber from Red Bull, with a time of 1:38.117s. Lewis Hamilton is a favorite racer who drives for McLaren, among Alonso and Massa, has finished with a position of 15th! It has been raining heavily for the past couple of hours and it will interesting to see how the race shapes up. It is interesting to note that Rubbens Barrichello has the fasted lap time in this circuit in 2004. His lap time was 1:21.046s.
5:30pm
The race has begun, the safety car has started driving away. Bourdais car hasn’t started and is still on the starting track. It is raining heavily. The mechanics are working on Bourdais car frantically. If his car does not get ready before the other cars come into position, he is deep deep trouble.
5:35pm
The first lap has begun and Vettel has kept his pole position in the first turn. Kimi is in 13 position behind Coulthard. Lewis has moved into 14th position.
5:41pm
Vettel still holds lead in the first five laps. Fisichella from Force India has been holding the 11th position up to 6 laps. Kimi pushes ahead and takes him on the inside and loses his position to Kimi. Now, Hamilton is on Fisichella toes now.
5:47pm
Hamilton takes over Fisichella. Vettel is still in the lead after 10 laps.
5:53pm
Fisichella doing so well till now, clips Coulthard and bits and parts of his car start to fly off as his car uncontrolably skids and heads into the sands. He is out of the race. What a sad finish for this great driver and disappointing for Force India team. Now, all hope lies with Adrian Sutil who is in the last position when I last checked.
5:57pm
There is an interesting race for 8th, 9th and 10th position. Lewis Hamilton is in the 10th position and he is trying to get ahead. Interestingly Massa who over took Rosberg by slightly cut the curve gave up the position back to Rosberg again in the straights. The commentator was claiming that Massa does not want to be the ‘nice guy’ but then this move has just proved that he is.
6:20pm
19 laps gone. Vettel, the race leader has about 12 seconds lead from Kovaleinen. Massa in 6th position and Hamilton in 8th position. Alsono is in the pit with a timing of 9.8 seconds.
6:45pm
Had to take a break. Still 8 laps to go. The current standing is as follows:
- S Vettel – Torro Rosso
- Kovalainen
- Kubica
- Alonso
- Heidfeld
- Massa
- Hamilton
- Webber
- Piquet
- Coulthard
6:47pm
Vettel is still holding to the pole position. If he can do this, it will be his first Grand Prix win and will be the youngest player to win such a Grand Prix. Remember, the raining has stopped but Vettel has still not changed his tyres and the race is getting a lot interesting.
6:54pm
Its all happening, with two laps to go, Coulthard again rams through Nakajima and sends him out of the race as Coulthard goes into a pit stop. The debris is still out there as Massa just rides on. The race between Massa and Hamilton is still raging on. Vettel has just one lap to go with 12.7 seconds ahead of Kovalainen.
In 327 Grand Prix helds, the commentator comments, Vettel, the youngest rookie racer, gets the chequered flag. Kovalainen takes the second and Kubica gets the third position. The team radio of Vettel is played and he says “I don’t know what to say, a great race, Gracia (and shouts) Yes!”.
S Vettel takes the Cup and then he, Kovalainen and Kubica pours champagne on each other and on the fans. There you have it. An exciting end to an exciting race. Sebastian Vettel, a rookie taking a stunning pole position, and then going on to win his first Grand Prix in F1 racing for himself and for his team Toro Rosso. Its an ubelievable race. Its unfortunate for Fisichella had to get out of the race. However, Adrain Sutil somehow finished the race. However, in another two weeks in Singapore we will again meet and see if Sebastian Vettel will repeat his magic that he pulled today at Monza.
This is Karthi signing off for now and in two weeks time, I will blogging live again about Singapore Grand Prix.
