Hello world! – Yes (sigh!) I am back … again!

Yes, and (hopefully for the last time) I am back to blogging ways. Due to some technical difficulties, I had to re-design and re-install Wordpress, due to which I had lost all my previous posts. The trouble began when Wordpress told me that a new version 2.8.4 was out.

So before I upgraded, I did a local install and tested if everything went fine with my list of plugins I used. Everything went fine. So I decided to upgrade my blog as well. When I tried the automatic upgrade, it didn’t go smoothly. There was some problem and Wordpress aborted the attempt. So I decided I am simply going to upgrade it manually and so decided to use my existing local file to upgrade my blog. Without realizing, I simply upgraded my local build to my server. This screwed up everything.

The DB (Database) Problem

As soon as I did, my blog was not accessible. Because the local build DB is different from the one being used in the server. So the DB was corrupted. I tried Wordpress forums for some answer. Somehow, the problem always seemed different from the one I was facing. Hence, I couldn’t find a solution. After a week and half struggling to set the blogs’ DB straight, I decided to take the painful decision to overwrite the DB and install a fresh Wordpress blog. What you are witnessing is a result of that.

Clean Design

I also wanted a clean design for my blog. Most of the designs that are out there are just breath-taking. But I didn’t want that. I wanted something simple yet powerful enough to use. Then I just realized that I had that design with me all the time. Kubrick theme – Wordpress’s default theme. I started working on it and a week later I got what I wanted. I am happy with the outcome.

So here I am once again, hoping against hope, that I will not screw up my blog and will continue to blog things that are happening around me and around the World. If you have any comments, feel free to drop them.
